Since version 1.27 db columns of type DATE and DATETIME return no longer text values, but "real" dates. The text can be extracted from there by either using the TEXT function, or using a DATEPART / CONCAT functions for the db column names.

Agree, that would be nice. A valuable candidate for the upcoming enhancements.
